A public hearing meeting in view of the proposed expansion of the controversial UPCL thermal power project was organised at Paniyoor on November 10, Thursday amid the prohibitory orders under Section 144 imposed by the government in view of Tipu Jayanthi celebrations. The meeting which chaired by Udupi Deputy Commissioner. It has been alleged that the meeting was literally ruled by the hired speakers on behalf of UPCL.

None can raise objection to this. Several restrictions have also been imposed on vehicles carrying school children. However, the question is whether such restrictions would be able to put a check on road accidents.
