There is every likelihood of a total of nine road projects in the state including the Kundapur-Suratkal four-laning project, being confined to the cold storage in the backdrop of the Union Government warning of freezing Central aid to national highway projects in the state if the state delayed any further the land acquisition process for the projects.

The Railway Budget presented by Union Railway Minister Mamatha Banerjee in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday has referred to ‘Mangalore,’ though the actual benefit of the proposed projects would be the neighbouring Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Though there is a proposal for new trains and survey for new rail routes in the coastal belt, rest of the schemes mentioned in the budget are not at all complementary to the railway demands of the region.
