A World Bank report had last year cautioned that a situation may arise in the coming decade when people may end up dying in their fight for water. An incident reported from a town in Madhya Pradesh recently wherein two persons died in a clash for water among people who had been waiting for water for days together, is only pinpointing the fact that the situation which the World Bank report predicted is already prevailing in India. But this incident somehow did not make big news for our media which are clinging to the page three culture.

The DK District Bus Operators’ Association had recently informed that city bus fares had been reduced with effect from April 28. But the complaint of many a bus passenger is that the revision has not yet been implemented in some buses.
Reports say while the crew of some of the buses have implemented the revision in fares, there are some other bus crew who charge the earlier fare itself.

The case of the suspicious death of Noojadi Nityananda Shetty, the real estate businessman hailing from Kundapur, is getting murkier with the passing of each day. It may be mentioned here that Shetty who was on a Malaysia tour with his family on the Star Cruise, met an accidental death on April 13 when he reportedly fell off the Star Cruise into the sea. His wife Kasturi Shetty too had reportedly jumped into the sea in order to save her husband but was eventually saved.

Chief minister BS Yaddyurappa has spent a staggering Rs 11,17,259 for his pilgrim tours during just five months of his taking charge as chief minister.
The twelve tours to pilgrim centres went off in the name of official government programmes and during some of the tours, helicopter and aircraft services too were used at government expense.

Interestingly, Yaddyurappa during the first five months of his office had only visited Hindu religious places and not to any Muslim or Christian religious place.
Though the chief minister had visited the city in the aftermath of the attacks on churches, he had not visited any church. Even when he had visited one of the temples, he had not visited a church located close by.

With admissions for I PUC courses in various colleges in the district on in full swing, complaints are also coming in of violation of the Pre-University Education Board directive by most of the colleges while providing application forms and prospectus to the students. Similar complaints were even heard last year.
This time however the government seems not that interested in strictly enforcing the guidelines.
