The land acquisition process for the Hassan-BC Road four-laning works on the National Highway-77 has commenced. The Rs 1500 crore project will cover a distance of 130 kms. The NH Department needs 290 hectares of land on either side of the road.

Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has informed that the task of desilting side drains measuring 59 kms is presently underway at a cost of Rs 70.7 lakhs. He said there were side drains covering a distance of 180 kms in Mangalore at present.
