Hanumanth Kamath, President of Nagarika Seva Samithi has lodged a complaint at Pandeshwar Police Station against Pushparaj Jain of Abhish Builders accusing the latter of threatening him and also defaming him at a meeting convened under the leadership of the DC.

On July 26 Saturday, the ABVP city unit Secretary Yatish Kumar not only threatened the Mangalore University College Principal but also abused him. The Principal Dr Satyanarayana Mallipatna has lodged a complaint at Pandeshwar Police Station in this regard.

The CID officials who are investigating into the case of suspicious death of medical student Rohith Radhakrishnan of Kerala origin on the Tannirbavi beach road with his head found severed from the rest of the body, have questioned some of the friends of Rohith on July 24, Thursday. Sudhir Ghate, Chartered Accountant and Proprietor of Magnum Intergrafiks advertisement agency, has been arrested by the Central Excise and Service Tax Department on July 23, Wednesday for evading payment of service tax to the tune of Rs 1.94 crores. This probably, is the first arrest in the history of Mangalore in a tax evasion case.

Justice MF Saldanha, former High Court Judge has informed that the State Women’s Commission has filed a petition under Contempt of Court Proceedings Act in the High Court with regard to the case of demolition of the house of John Baptist Lewis at Patrao Lane, Karangalpady by a group of around 40 men led by St Aloysius College Rector Denzil Lobo, Fr Almeida, Fr Cyril, Vice Principal John D’Silva and Advocate MP Noronha even when the property dispute between Lewis and the St. Aloysius College management was before the court.

State Women’s Commission President Manjula Manasa has taken the Mangalore Police Commissioner R Hithendra to task for the way in which the John Baptist Lewis house demolition and assault case was handled and also for the inaction in arresting the prime accused in the case.
The incident had taken place on June 26, 2014. Fr Denzil Lobo, Fr Almeida, Fr Cyril and Vice Principal John D’Silva and advocate MP Noronha are the prime accused in the case.
