A six year old boy who was found loitering in the bus stand area at KS Rao
Road in Mulki since the past couple of days, has been rescued by locals who are planning
to hand him over to children?s remand home authorities.

Officials have set free four more bonded labourers from the stone quarry at
Varapade near Ukkuda on the night of December 1, Wednesday and have arrested the
quarry owner TMHA Adda alias Abdul Azeez. It may be recalled here that a team of
government officials following a raid on December 1 afternoon, had freed 39 bonded
labourers mostly hailing from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and some parts of Karnataka.
During the operation that continued even in the night, police found a woman named
Dhanalakshmi in a room with her five day old baby. Even her husband Ramaswami and
their six year sol Murugan were rescued. They are learnt to be from Tamil Nadu.

There were smiles at last in the otherwise sullen faces of the nearly 39 poor
labourers after they were freed from the quarry where they worked as bonded labourers
for the past six to eight years. The rescue operation took place following a raid to the
stone quarry at Ukkuda-Parapade run by a certain Adda alias Abdul Azeez, on December
1, Wednesday.
