A huge protest was staged in front of the Town Hall in Bangalore against the misdeeds of the State Minorities Development Corporation Chairman NB Aboobakker who hails from Angaragundi in Mangalore. In a significant development, the State High Court has directed that the transcript of the ‘hate’ speech delivered by RSS leader Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat during the Uppinangady Samajotsav in January this year, be produced before the court within two weeks.
The State High Court has dismissed a case pertaining to hunting of stag in Someshwar wildlife division of Udupi district, following the delay in filing the charge sheet by 11 years. The court in its ruling has also expressed its strong disapproval of the failure of the lower court in settling the case.
“The government is using the Anti-Naxal Force to suppress the movement in favour of tribal inhabitants and is pushing behind bars those working for the welfare of the tribals,” alleged Vittal Malekudiya, journalism student of Mangalore University who was recently arrested on charges of Naxal links.
The police investigation report regarding the rampage by BJP men during an election victory celebration in Bantwal in 2009, has been submitted to the Human Rights Commission. The Commission had earlier voluntarily registered a case acting upon a Karavali Ale report dated 19-05-2009 in this regard.
