KASARGOD: Kasargod police have launched an intensive search for an Ullal man who

is facing the charges of killing his wife by throwing acid on her.

Tahira of Kannur was found with serious burn injuries in her house on December 22.

Though she was admitted to the Periyaram Medical College Hospital, she succumbed

to her injuries two days later. Even Tahira’s daughter Sajila who rushed to her mother

for help, had sustained injuries. Altaf who had absconded after the incident, is still at

large. He who was working overseas, had returned hometown about six months ago,

and was engaged in fish selling. A discord with his wife had led to his throwing acid on

her. Police have gathered information that Altaf had visited his hometown at Ullal after

throwing acid on his wife.

Police also are on the look out for him in hospitals on the suspicion that he too might

have sustained burn injuries and might be receiving treatment for the same.
