PUTTUR : Doctors? negligence has been blamed for the death of a young woman at the

Girija Hospital in Puttur where the woman was operated for a kidney stone. Meanwhile,

allegations are heard that the authorities of the hospital have made an attempt to hush up

the case.

The deceased has been identified as Roona Kuttan, daughter of a person of Kolkata

origin. The girl who was suffering from acute stomach ache had been admitted to the

hospital on December 20 where doctors advised a surgery. Accordingly, she was

operated the same night. The girl who was said to be fine after the operation, died the

next morning.

It is learnt she had come to her sister?s house at Parladka four days ago along with her

mother and brother and that she was to be married shortly.

A huge crowd gathered outside the hospital on hearing about the death of the young

woman, Meanwhile, fearing some problem, the hospital authorities reportedly made all

arrangements for the family to take the body to Kolkata by flight by providing them Rs

1.5 lakhs.

Clarifying on the issue Dr Gopinath Pai of the hospital said ? Roona was quite normal

after she was operated upon and was taken care of by nurses. But she died the next

morning at around 7. The reason of her death is not clear. Possibly she might have

suffered a cardiac arrest. But she did not die of medical negligence.?
