KARKALA : Arbi Falls, a scenic spot of tourist importance, located in Nitte Gram Panchayat limits, will soon see development, thanks to a joint initiative of the Nitte Gram Panchayat and the neighbouring Sanoor Gram Panchayat.

Already, several developmental works have been taken up in the area and several more are in the pipeline.

The Canara Times and Karavali Ale had earlier reported how the Arbi Falls had remained a neglected lot and had even turned out to be highly unclean with tourists visiting the spot failing to maintain cleanliness. Following the report, a team of comprising the two GP chiefs and members visited the place and decided to develop the area.

As a first step, a name board and a sign board of the place was installed on the road side at Pelatakatte near Nitte Parappadi. A garbage bin has been placed in the area and the collected wastes are disposed by a team of enthusiast locals and GP members that has been formed.

The Gram Panchayat authorities are also seriously contemplating to put forth a proposal for a link bridge between Sanoor and Nitte which will reduce the distance between Sanoor and Nitte to three kms, while people have to now cover a round about 10 kms to reach the two places.
