BANGALORE : It has come to light of late that the Bangalore based Adarsh Developers had remitted a staggering Rs 3.5 crore to influential state minister Shobha Karandlaje.

Though it is being said that the amount was given as loan to the minister, there are strong doubts in this regard. According to media reports, the amount was transferred to Shobha for helping the company in some way at the government level.

Reports also suggest that Shobha making use of this ?loan? had purchased 166 acre land at Tannimaani near Madikeri and invested in Kapila Manjushree Apparels and Ellamma Minerals of which she is the MD.

Though there is a rule that a minister should not hold any other office of profit, Shobha while being minister had served as MD of her company for some time and in the meanwhile had even secured a pay of Rs 5 lakh from the government.

Though Shobha is residing in a rented house even after becoming a minister and is conveying the message that she was leading a simple life, media reports as of now suggest something contrary that she has amassed crores of rupees of wealth.
Owner of assets worth over Rs 100 cr?

When the BJP government in the state was facing crisis, there was heard an allegation that Shobha had lured Congress legislators of crores of rupees. However, then Shobha had said ?I have never seen crores of rupees. I am leading a life making use of my salary of Rs 15000 as a minister.? But though Shobha looks simple prima facie, she has amassed crores of rupees worth wealth. The land she purchased at Madikeri is learnt to be valued at nearly Rs 40 crores and reports also say she had amassed property at several places in Bangalore and also in the vicinity of Puttur. According to sources, her total property value may exceed Rs 100 crores.
