UDUPI : The Udupi Block Congress Committee has taken exception to the inaction of the DCC Chief MA Gafur to expel the Udupi Taluk Panchayat President from the primary membership of the party. The Block Congress has charged the DCC chief of succumbing to pressure from the TP Chief and not initiating any action despite a request made by it in this regard a month ago.
The resolution passed by the Udupi Block Congress at one of its meeting has charged the Udupi TP chief Shyamala Sudhaker of violating party discipline by going against the party whip during the election to the post of TP President and Vice President, wherein she who is representing the Kalyanpur constituency, rose to the top post with BJP support by contesting against the official Congress candidate Bhagyalakshmi,
The Block Congress wanted the expulsion of Shyamala Sudhaker for indulging in anti-party activities despite the party giving her ticket twice earlier to contest from Korangrapady and Kadekar apart from giving her an opportunity to serve as Udupi taluk panchayat president for two terms.
This latest development, wherein a block Congress Committee has chosen to criticize the district chief of the party for inaction, has surely come in as a jolt to the Congress in Udupi.
