KASARGOD : Even as the Kasaragod police have intensified their search for Riyana who had been missing from Chengala under mysterious circumstances, there have been speculations about her being kept in a secret place in Mangalore.
The police who have been on a trail of an illegal network operating from Hampankatta have intensified their search following this tip off. It has been said that a group of influential persons are running a prostitution racket using the minor girls brought into the district by middlemen from Kasaragod and Cannannore. The kingpins of the racket have been hoodwinking the police by frequently shifting their base from Hampankatta to Kodialbail.
Meanwhile, the mother of Riyana who has been on an hunger strike in the town for the last six days has earned a lot of public and political support. Muslim League, National League, Janatha Dal, PDP and other political parties have openly declared their support to the cause of Fausia. Following a High Court order to produce Riyana within October 8, the police have intensified their search for the missing girl.
