MANGALORE : With the process of selecting office bearers for the state, district and
block level units of the Congress underway, several key aspirants have begun hectic
lobbying to enjoy party posts. As far as Suratkal Block Congress is concerned, reports of
late suggest of the possibility of the Block Congress Presidentship going to a Mogaveera
candidate.
Though Suratkal is a strong hold of Mogaveeras, the Congress has been often accused of
neglecting the majority community in the area.
Though the general belief is that most of this community were pro-BJP still there are
many who have identified themselves with the Congress.
One of the names that is being heard for the post in Suratkal is Lakshmidharagiri who has
once earlier been the Block Youth Congress President between 1984 to 1997. He has also
been the organizing secretary and is actively involved in various organizations. However
sources said there is a possibility of former Legislator Vijay Kumar Shetty and the sitting
Block Congress President himself getting re-elected to the post.
Earlier, the post has been held by Hasanabba Master and BK Sanjeeva. There is much
curiosity as to who it would be this time
