Officials are presently making all out efforts to hush up the recent case of tracing huge
quantity of unaccounted sand from the premises of the Vikas Education Trust of which
the district minister Krishna Palemar is one of the partners.
There is a need for the Deputy Commissioner to undertake a thorough probe into this
case which at the outset reveals the involvement of the minister.
Today the indiscriminate sand mining has posed a great risk to rivers and have
brought in the fears of rivers changing course. It is also incurring loss of revenue to
the government to the tune of several crores of rupees. Several ruling party leaders,
elected representatives as well as officials are behind this. The recent unearthing of huge
quantity of sand in Vikas institute has only ascertained the district minister’ involvement.
As this is a case involving the district minister, the Deputy Commissioner himself should
head the investigation and take suitable action against the tahsildar and officers of the
Department of Mines and Geology who are trying to hush up this case.
