PADUBIDRI : Sea erosion has intensified in Bada Ermal of Uchila gram panchayat limits with reports revealing that two houses close by the shore facing fears of being washed away by the huge tidal waves.

It is learnt, sea erosion has been intensifying here since the past ten days. Even the huge boulders that have been dumped to prevent erosion, are being engulfed by the seas.

The houses of Iliyas and Kalyani Karkera are in grave danger and the residents are spending sleepless nights. They say the local panchayat has not responded to their problem despite the matter being brought to their notice.

The inmates of the two houses fear they would be rendered homeless and destitutes in case the sea engulfs their houses. They even reveal how an intense sea erosion in the area a few years ago, had engulfed several coconut trees.
