Who is MUDA Commissioner?

MANGALORE: The confusion as to who is the MUDA Commissioner still persists even
after the Mangalore Urban Development Authority President Madhava Bhandari clarified
that presently Madhukar Gadkar himself is the MUDA Commissioner.
The State Government had transferred PG Ramesh, the erstwhile MUDA Commissioner
as Chief Officer of Madikeri TMC, when he was on leave. Meanwhile, Joint
Commissioner of MCC Madhukar Gadkar was appointed MUDA Commissioner and
he took charge on the evening of July 2, Friday. On the other hand, Ramesh moved the
Karnataka Administrative Tribunal alleging that he was demoted by posting him as Chief
Officer of a TMC and sought a stay to his transfer.
Clarifying in this regard, MUDA President Madhava Bhandari said “Gadkar has
taken charge as MUDA Commissioner as per the government orders. The stay order
brought about by the erstwhile Commissioner Ramesh is against the government orders.
Therefore, Gadkar will continue as MUDA Commissioner until clear cut instructions
come from the government.”
On the other hand, Gadkar has said “The government order appointing me as MUDA
Commissioner reached my hands on July 2 and I took charge the same evening. I am
ready to go anywhere if the government posts me elsewhere; I have no wish to serve at
any particular place. So far I have been transferred 19 times and I have not questioned the
government orders.”
