DVS steps out of his illusory world

The resignation of Udupi-Chikmagalur MP and former State BJP president DV
Sadananda Gowda from the post of Director of KMF has once again surfaced the
simmering discontentment within the ruling party in the state. The differences between
Gowda and Chief Minister Yeddyurappa were even evident during the former’s last few
days in office as the State BJP chief.
But after he stepped down as BJP chief, Gowda had enjoyed no other office of profit in
the government other than the KMF directorship. That too, according to Gowda, he had
accepted the Director’s post following an assurance from the CM that he would be made
the Chairman. In this backdrop, Gowda’s statement that he was quitting disillusioned by
the failure of the CM to keep up his words, gains significance.
But how Gowda who knew the CM from close quarters, believed in the latter’s words, is
still a surprise.
After all, how many of the assurances given by this government on various occasions,
have been fulfilled? The latest instance is that of the quitting of Lokayukta Santosh
Hegde disappointed by the government’s failure to keep up its promises.
Though DV Sadananda Gowda might not have had the last say even while he was the
Mangalore MP and the state BJP President, he however had gone out of his way in
defending the CM and the government on many occasions, so much so that there have
been times when he himself had become a laughing stock in the process.
One thing which Gowda should be aware is that the present government gave weightage
only to the words of the CM, his family members and the Reddys. Though Home
Minister Acharya too tried to prove that he belongs to the close circles of the CM ,
as at the moment, he is just a timer server in the Yeddy Durbar. In reality, many of
the transfers and promotions in the police department come to the notice of the Home
Minister only after they are executed.
It would be better for Sadananda Gowda to raise his voice in matters of public interest
instead of raising his voice when it came to personal matters, if he does not wish to be
alienated even by his electorate/
