Operation Leopard

BELTHANGADY: A hungry leopard, which in its haste to prey on a few puppies, fell
into a well and was later rescued by villagers, at Punjalakatte here on the morning of June
23, Wednesday.
According to locals, the leopard which had pounced on a few puppies which were
sleeping close by the residence of Subbanna Shetty, tried to escape on seeing Shetty who
came out of the house hearing the wails of the puppies. But in its haste to escape it fell
into a 25 feet deep well.
Immediately, Shetty summoned people of the village and even informed the forest
department. They joined together and dropped a dried branch of an acacia tree into the
well helping the leopard come out of the well.
The leopard later escaped into the forests on seeing the crowd that had gathered around.
