MANGALORE: The Mangalore University has recommended to the state government to initiate legal action against Stephen Quadras, Lecturer in Carstreet First Grade College, who is facing the charges of granting marks to students who did not appear for the 2008 LLB exams.
A complaint had been registered against Quadras under Section 468 and 477 of the Indian Penal Code 74 and Karnataka State University Act 2000 for granting marks to around 60 students despite them not appearing for the exams.
He is also facing the charges of forging the signature of Ajth Kumar, the BEd marks sheet preparer of Moodbidri Alva’s College.
The Konaje police had registered a case as per the complaint lodged by PS Yadapadittaya, Registrar of Mangalore University.
Quadras is learnt to have already secured anticipatory bail. The Registrar of Mangalore University has written to the Chief Secretary of the High School Education Department to initiate legal action against the lecturer.
