BANTWAL: A man who was all set for a second marriage after ditching his first wife, owing to his greed for money, was arrested and taken away from the wedding pandal at BC Road on Sunday. The arrested groom has been identified as Suresh, son of Anand Poojari of Enmakaje village of Kasargod. He is learnt to be an autorickshaw driver.
Suresh who had married Latha of Kasargod five years ago, had a four year old child from her. Meanwhile, he who never visited his wife who had gone to her parental home for delivery was all set to marry a young woman from near Polali at the Modankaup Hall on Sunday. But, his first wife Latha who gathered hint of his remarriage plans had lodged a complaint with the Kasargod police. But as the wedding was taking place in Bantwal station limits, Latha had been to the Station along with her family on Sunday and had appealed to stop the marriage. The police who immediately swung into action, arrested Suresh from the wedding pandal, and handed him over to the Kasargod police.
It has been learnt that Suresh had made the bride’s family believe that he was a bachelor and had even secured an advance dowry of Rs 20,000. The amount has been returned to the bride’s family by the police. It is learnt the police have even seen to it that Suresh reimbursed the wedding lunch expenses which was borne by the bride’s family.
