MANGALORE : The DK District Unit of the Komu Sauharda Vedike which has strongly condemned the management of the Ganapathi College in the city for forcing the Muslim female students to remove their burqa before answering SSLC exams, has demanded that a re-exam be conducted for the affected students who could not do their best in the exams owing to the row.

“ The confidence of the students has been affected after they were viewed with a suspicion during exams for wearing burqa,” the Vedike President Suresh Bhat Bakrabail said.

“ The upper class which has been cheating the Dalits and the Muslim community since centuries, was now coming in the way of the education of Muslim women. This is a ploy of the Sangh Parivar,” the Vedike alleged.

He further said “ The arrest of a few parents and student leaders who had been to the college to enquire about the burqa row, is also an attempt to suppress the voice of those who challenge the efforts to curtail their rights.”
