PUTTUR: Rumours are doing the rounds that Umesh alias Tingalady Umesh Rai, a youth hailing from Tingalady near here has been murdered. However police have denied the rumours.
There were rumours that Rai, a real estate businessman who was also involved in criminal activities was found dead near Madikeri and the car too traced nearby.
However the Madikeri rural inspector Srikanth when contacted said the police who went to the area following the reports, did not find any body or vehicle there.
Umesh, who had been to the residence of Jayaraj at Eshwaramangala on March 26, had telephoned his wife the next day and informed that he was in Eshwaramangala but went missing after that. Rai is also facing the allegation of assaulting MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s brother at Bellare recently.
Already several cases are pending against him in Puttur, Puttur Rural and Subrahmanya stations.
