PUTTUR : The Puttur Court has ruled that the Edapatya couple were guilty in the case of businessmen Harish Rai Puttoli murder that had taken place about 13 years ago. The court has said it would announce the punishment to the guilty on April 8.
Harish Rai Puttoli, financier and a resident of Kemmaru in Puttur taluk was found murdered on Mary 19, 1997. The court has now ruled that Edapathya Chandra and his wife Veena are the guilt in this case. The couple has been taken into custody following the court ruling.
The Case : Puttoli alias Harish Rai was a financier and hailed from Kemmaru in Hirebandadi village of Puttur taluk. He had an affair with Veena during his college days. However, Veena had later on tied the knot to Edapathya Chandra. The murder of Harish took place when Chandra realized that his wife Veena had maintained contact with Harish even after her wedding,
Harish Rai who had left for Bangalore was asked to come to Mangalore on May 19, 1997 by making Veena telephone him. Puttoli was kidnapped in a car in front of the Don Bosco Hall in Mangalore and lodged in a farm house in Sullia. Puttoli’s remains were later found in a charred state in the farms of Edapathya Chandra in Sullia taluk. Even his watch and finger rings were found there.
Harish who had arrived in Mangalore from Bangalore along with one Kodiyadi Diwaker Rai was later missing mysteriously. Even the prime witness Diwaker Rai had later died in Mysore while another witness Kepu went missing mysteriously.
In fact it were the Gampa (Gandhi Park) Geleyaru who had first hinted at the possibility of the murder of their beloved friend Puttoli who was active in the organization.
