CID seeks spl court to hear serial killer case

MANGALORE: The State CID DGP DV Guruprasad has written to the state government seeking constitution of a separate court to hear the case pertaining to the cyanide killer Mohan Kumar.

CID sources said as this was a special case involving the murder of as many as 19 young women and cases registered in different stations, there was a need for a special court which would facilitate early punishment to the killer. It has been learnt that a charge sheet has been filed against Mohan in the Bantwal JMFC Court in connection with the case of murder of Anita of Barimar in Bantwal. The investigation into the rest of the 18 cases are progressing fast and charge sheets are expected to be filed in the next ten to 15 days.

It is learnt, even the State IGP Ajaykumar Singh has written to the government seeking a special court to hear the case. There have even been instances of other states constituting special courts to hear special cases.

The serial killer who was also a former teacher was arrested by the police team led by Bantwal SI Nanjegowda at the directions of Puttur ASP Chandragupta on October 21, 2009. The arrest and the shocking revelations had sent shivers down the spines of several on knowing the modus operandi of the former teacher who had eliminated as many as 19 young women with the cyanide pills, after persuading them to elope and after having sex with them.
