KSRTC to operate Volvo buses on Manipal-K’god route

MANGALORE: The KSRTC Mangalore division is learnt to have decided to introduce AC Volvo buses on the Manipal-Kasargod roué in view of the increasing commuters including medical students on the route.

The Karnataka State Transport Authority has already approved this proposal. Reports said as per the inter-state bus service agreement, the authorities have permitted for the operation of six new Volvo buses on the Kasargod-Manipal route. The new buses will ply from Mangalore to Kasargod and will return to Manipal via Mangalore covering a distance of 120 kms.

It is leant a decision to operate this bus has been taken in view of the demand placed forth by several Kasargod based medical students in Manipal.

Of the 12 Volvo buses which the KSRTC is expected to press into service, six will operate on the Mangalore-Manipal route, while the remaining buses will operate on the Kasargod Manipal route via Mangalore. According to sources, the fare of he Manipal-Kasargod AC bus would be Rs 100.
