All control rooms must quickly respond to monsoon grievances : Addl DC

Mangaluru : The control rooms operating at all taluk offices in Dakshina Kannada should function continuously to assist people in distress in the wake of the heavy downpour the district has been experiencing since the past few days, said Additional DC Kumar.
Addressing a meeting of officials convened at the DC office to discuss measures that need to be taken to manage natural calamities, he said complaints should immediately be responded to and all complaints should be duly registered and necessary documents maintained.
The officials should keep an eye on river bank areas, areas which have suffered due to floods in the past, he said and also directed the officials to identify dangerously located trees on road sides and inform the Forest Department.
He also informed the meeting that the respective Tahsildars have been empowered to declare holidays to schools in case of heavy rains. Home Guards must be deputed to keep a vigil in main beaches, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said and added the Fire Service Department has already been provided with grants to purchase equipment that are essential during natural calamity relief operations.
