Kukke Subrahmanya’s Kumaradhara is highly polluted

Mangaluru :
Already the Kumaradhara river is completely polluted. Though there is a belief that taking a holy dip in the waters of Kumaradhara would rid one of all skin ailments, the condition of the water at present is such that devotees will have a fear of developing skin ailments after taking a dip here.
The complaint is that devotees who step into the water here pollute the waters least bothered about the consequences. If that is not suffice the effluents from the innumerous lodges and hotels here are also released into the river, adding to the problem. To top it all even locals dump their wastes here.
People are also seen washing their vehicles in the river water. Though the temple administration has put up sign boards at several places requesting devotees to maintain cleanliness, little heed is paid to it.
Devotees visiting the shrine ardently hope that the revenue earned in crores by the temple is used to provide an effective garbage and waste management system in Subrahmanya which is all likely to face multitude of problems in the coming monsoons.
