New day train on Mangaluru-Bengaluru route soon

Mangaluru : A longstanding demand of people of the coastal region- a new day train between Mangaluru and Bengaluru would soon be a reality. The train service is expected to commence in the month of March.
When D V Sadananda Gowda was the Union Railway Minister, in his 2014 budget he had announced a day train service between Mangaluru and Bengaluru. However, the promise had never seen the light of the day. But the Udupi Railway Yatri Sangha which was hell bent upon ensuring that the announcement became a reality had even moved the High Court following which the Railway Department decided to commence the day train services.
The recently held Railway Board meeting too has passed a resolution in this regard. It has been gathered that the Railway Ministry would also be submitting an affidavit before the court very soon. There is also information that the Railway Safety Commissioner has approved the new train services.
