SI post lies vacant in police station of Minister Abhaya’s home constituency

Moodbidri : It has been over an year since the post of a sub-inspector is vacant in the Moodbidri police station coming under the constituency of the State Youth Empowerment and Fisheries Minister Abhayachandra Jain. A Police Inspector is the only senior officer in this station to oversee the law and order scenario in the station limits.
The post has been lying vacant ever since Ramesh Kumar who was earlier serving as SI in this station was transferred to Kalaburgi. The result, the entire responsibility of the station lies on the shoulders of inspector Anantha Padmanabha. Whenever he has to leave the station to attend some meeting, naturally there arises problems for many who approach the station with their complaints, say locals.
In fact, the presence of a sub-inspector and an inspector in any police station within the Commissionerate limits helps in equal sharing of responsibilities.
Though Satish Kumar of Panambur police station was transferred to Moodbidri last year following the brutal murder of Hindu activist Prashanth Poojary in the town, he remained on duty here for only ten days.
Apart from the SI’s post, several other posts are also vacant in this station and complaints are heard that no step has been taken to fill the same.
