MANGALORE : Revelations made by the arrested Sri Rama Sene leader Prasad Attavar have given room for clear cut doubts that the name of the triple murderer was in the list of three persons from the district who are having links with the underworld don Ravi Poojari.
The reason for this is the good relation which Prasad Attavar has with the triple murderer. Reports said police have taken up investigation into this case from this angle.
It is learnt that though the senior police officials had information regarding this a year ago itself, they had then hesitated to initiate any action or probe owing to his link with a communal organization and also owing to the fact that he even was running a daily.
But right now the police are unhesitantly conducting investigations into the case following the government’s determination to crack down the Ram Sene which was creating law and order problems through its moral policing acts.
Police sources revealed that interrogations of Prasad Attavar has brought to light the relationship between Ravi Poojari and the triple murderer. It is learnt Ravi Poojari used to first inform the newspaper of the triple murderer of his role in any dreaded criminal act and the triple murderer even used to publish the same as if it was a secret known only to him, says an advocate who is also a human rights activist.
Though the police had gathered clues of a joint operation by Ravi Poojari and the triple murderer in the builder Subbarao murder case, he had then somehow escaped from the police and had even publicized in his daily that Ravi Poojari had claimed responsibility for the Subbarao murder. This in a way helped him to mislead police investigation into the murder in which he too had a role to play. In fact both Subbarao and the triple murderer are real estate businessmen.
Reports also say that the Bhajrangdal leader had recently visited the triple murderer’s office. A police officer even revealed that the tripe murderer was even using his daily to create public sympathy for Prasad Attavar, in his attempt to save himself.
The police department was very much sure that the triple murderer himself was the centre point of the criminal world in Mangalore as he had even shouted at the ASP who raided the hotel under the joint ownership of himself and Prasad Attavar which served liquor to customers without any license.
The only thing now left is for the police to undertake a thorough probe in this direction.
