MLA Sunil Kumar accused of interfering in Moodbidri TMC affairs

Karkala : Ruling Congress Councillors of Moodbidri staged a protest by wearing black flags and shouting slogans during the TMC meeting on May 30, Saturday. Their anger was pointed towards Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar who had reportedly rejected the action plan prepared by the TMC for drinking water arrangements during summer and had instead prepared a separate action plan unilaterally.
Raising the issue, Shubadh Rao said the MLA’s action was politically motivated and accused him of unnecessarily interfering in the TMC administration.
Members also demanded a clarification from the TMC Chief Officer in this regard. Reacting to the same, Chief Officer Rayappa said as the MLA is also the President of the Task Force Committee, his decision would be final.
This agitated the councillors who wanted to know by the Chief Officer who is also the Member Secretary of the Task Force remained silent.
Shubadh Rao further alleged that though following a complaint to the DC, the list submitted by the MLA was sent back and a fresh list prepared, the same has not been submitted to the DC by the MLA for approval even after 24 days.
The debae on the issue was later closed after the TMC Chief Officer said there were many other pressing issues to be discussed.
