CM Siddaramaiah censures Mangaluru Police Commissioner Murugan

Bengaluru : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has censured Mangaluru Police Commissioner S Murugan during a meeting of senior police officials for failure to maintain law and order in the Commissionerate limits.
The CM who took serious cognizance of the fact that Manoj Kulal who was earlier arrested under Goonda Act and was released recently, was taken in a procession in Mangaluru, reportedly questioned the Commissioner as to why such processions were permitted.
“Manoj had murder and murder attempt cases against him. When such a criminal was released the police ought not have allowed a procession,” the CM said and directed the Commissioner to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
It has been gathered that the Commissioner has assured the CM that such incidents will not repeat in the future.
The CM also took the Police Department to task for not lagging behind in initiating action to curb the sand mafia menace. Stating that there were several complaints, the CM warned that the SP and IGP would be held responsible for any failure to take action against illegal sand mining.
