MANGALORE: It has been learnt that a few officials in the Mangalore Akashvani had seen to it that a Dalit officer in the AIR office was subject to atrocities, through the Kadri police.
Reports say the Director of Mangalore Akashvani who had deprived Sudhaker, a programme director of Krishi Ranga of all his facilities, had even lodged a false complaint against Sudhaker accusing him of misusing funds. Not just that by staging a protest against Sudhaker last Saturday, the officials had even revealed their ant-Dalit policy.
It is learnt, the Kadri SI Chikkaswami who had arrested Sudhaker no sooner a complaint was lodged against him, without going into the details had even detained him in the station only in underwear for a whole day before producing him before the court the next day. The complaint was lodged solely for the reason that Sudhaker had not issued the receipt for payment of Rs 5000 towards the issue of an ad by Hemanth Bhide, Chief Manager of the Udupi regional office of the Syndicate Bank. In fact Sudhaker had not issued the receipt as the higher officer concerned was absent. Though the ad was aired, a complaint was lodged against Sudhaker accusing him of misuse of funds.
The Dalit Sangharsha Samithi which has intervened has lodged a complaint with the SP against the Akashvani officials and also against the Kadri SI for registering a false case.
In his complaint to the SP Sudhaker has also said “The officials in Mangalore AIR are exploiting me by not providing the necessary furniture to his office, befitting the post I was holding and was treating him like. All files pertaining to me are misplaced and then kept in place after two to three days, thereby coming in the way of my work.”
Meanwhile, a departmental probe into the incident by AIR has proved that the complaint lodged with the Kadri police accusing Sudhaker of misusing funds, has been proved false.
Akashvani Director Chethana Naika has said that the investigation report into the case has been sent to Delhi and the instructions that come from there would be adhered to.
Regretting the act of Kadri police who arrested Sudhaker no sooner a complaint was lodged Naika said as the allegations have been prove baseless, Sudhaker is once again back in duty.
