MANGALORE : Prasad Attavar, the Sri Rama Sene leader who is now behind bars on the charges of abetting Ravi Poojari in collecting hafta from city’s businessmen, is learnt to have been a police informer on the activities of his very own friends in the Sri Rama Sene.
It seems the information provided by Attavar himself had played a vital role in helping the police arrest the accused Sri Rama Sene in most of the moral policing acts in the district. When Rama Sene activists who were involved in moral policing acts used to go underground they used to maintain contact only with Attavar who is the state Co-Convenor of the Sene. Taking advantage of this, Attavar used to pass on the information about his men, helping the police to apprehend them.
He gave his very friend’s number to underworld don !
Prasad Attavar, it is learnt is also in friendly terms with an entrepreneur engaged in shipping business in the city and also has partnership with him in some dealings. The Sri Rama Sene which wanted to plunge into the SEZ movement along with the Kemar seer, and had even arranged a press meet after it visited Permude, had later backtracked after Prasad came to know that his very own friend was an SEZ contractor. Moreover, he, it is learnt had given the number of this friend of his to the underworld don Ravi Poojari and encouraged the don to collect hafta from him.
