ABVP protests against lecturer who spoke at Dalits’ meet

MANGALORE : Students belonging to the ABVP staged a dharna after boycotting classes on Friday to protest against a lecturer for the sole reason that he took part in a protest organized by the Dalita Sangharsha Samithi opposing the proposed Bill on Cow Slaughter.
The ABVP’s ire was against Pattabhirama Somayaji, the English lecturer of University College, Mangalore, who had questioned the anti-people policy of the government at the
protest meet.
Around 25 students of the college, pressurized students attending classes to boycott classes and forced students to boycott classes against their will.
Later a few ABVP students staged a protest and submitted a memorandum sans any signature, to the authorities.
NSUI district President Tejaswiraj, SP Anand,District Principal Convenor of the Dalita Sangharsha Samithi and Suresh Bhat Bakrabail of Komu Sauharda Vedike, have taken strong exception to ABVP’s protest against a lecturer who has only expressed his independent views on an issue at the protest meet.
