MANGALORE: State BJP President KS Eshwarappa has made it clear that no company has contacted the state government with the intention of setting up another thermal power plant at Muloor near Padubidri.
To a question from scribes, Eshwarappa said the government would undertake a thorough study in case there was any proposal to set up a power plant in the coastal belt. Still, it would not be proper to oppose all power plant proposals, considering the power shortage the state was facing, he added.
Making it clear that the state government would not resort to forcible land acquisition for power plants or for that matter any other industries, he said though majority of the Muslims and Christians have until now not accepted BJP they were sure to develop a liking towards the party’s ideals in the years to come.
“The state government would not witness a downfall. In case the opposition has any illusion in this regard, then it would be nothing but foolishness on its part,” he said adding the BJP government under Yeddyurappa leadership would complete its five year term.
