MANGALORE : The Akhila Karnataka Shikshakara Kalyana Parishat has urged the district in-charge minister to have a person from Tulunad as the Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University.
Speaking to reporters in the city on Saturday, Madhusudan Bhat, President of the Parishat alleged that Mangalore University could not register as much progress as Kuvempu University and Gulbarga University, which were established alongside with it, as it had as its vice chancellors people from other places until 2006.
He further urged that the government which until now considered the caste factor while appointing vice chancellors, should henceforth appoint a vice chancellor from the region where the university is located.
