CPIM picketing continues on 2nd day

MANGALORE : The CPIM activists, as part of their three-day agitation, picketed the Deputy Commissioner’s office even on Friday protesting against the ration car discrepancies and the price hike . They were however soon arrested by the police and later on released.
Earlier addressing the agitators, CPM State Secretary KR Sriyan accused the state government of overriding the poor by failing to fulfill the promises it made to provide 25 k of rice at Rs 2 per kg. He also was highly critical of the policy of issuing APL and BPL ration cards instead of providing ration cards to all.
CPM leaders Yadav Shetty, J Balakrishna Shetty, Krishnappa Salian,Sunil Kumar, Sunder Shetty,Jayanth Naik and others took part in the agitation.
