Youth stabs girl for rejecting love

MANGALORE: An incident in which a youth stabbed a college student, who reportedly rejected his love, was reported from near Idya Jarandaya Daivasthana in Suratkal police station limits on Friday. The accused Bharath alias Damu, a resident of Chokkabettu Agaramelu has been arrested and produced before the court. The injured girl Priya, a student of Narayana Sanil College of Padupanabur has been admitted to a private hospital in Suratkal.
The incident took place when Priya was retuning from college along with friends at around 4.30 pm on Friday. Bharath who was waiting for her near the Daivasthana slapped her questioning “Will you not love me?.” He later stabbed her on her right arm and even as the other girls raised a cry, threatened to kill her if she refused to marry him.
A complaint has been lodged in Suratkal station.
