BANGALORE : The State High Court has served a notice to Mohammad, a father of three, who has been accused of forcibly converting Ramya Shetty, a young woman hailing from Naringana in Bantwal, to Islam.
The notice has been served in response to a habeas corpus writ filed by Ramya Shetty’s brother to the High Court seeking to trace his sister and stating this to be a case of Love Jihad.
In his petition Ramya Shetty’s brother had said “Mohammad, who was visiting our house for carpentry works, had kidnapped my sister after luring her with a job in Kerala. Later on it came to light that they were near Hosangady, but when we went to the place, we learnt that they had shifted and had taken Ramya to some other place and have forcibly converted her.”
The court which scrutinized some of the documents produced before it by the police, has now adjourned the hearing into the case.
