
BHATKAL: Three persons died on the spot while seven others sustained serious injuries in a head on collision between a private bus carrying school children and a Mahindra Bolero vehicle on the National Highway at Bangaramakki in Bengre near here on Wednesday evening. The deceased have been identified as Rama (50) of Kerala who was the Bolero driver, Srikumar Ravindra (11) of Sangli and Srilakshmi Ravindra (9). The rest of the injured were the other travelers in the Bolero. However, two other kids and another person in the vehicle escaped unhurt.
The mishap took place when the bus was proceeding to towards Kollur after visiting Murdeshwar. The Bolero was heading towards Sangli in Maharashtra after its occupants had taken part in a wedding at Kollur two days ago. The vehicle was badly mangled in the mishap. The deceased children were siblings.
The injured have been admitted to the RNAJ Hospital in Murdeshwar. There were about 52 students in the bus and only one girl sustained minor injuries. The students were later on sent to their hometown in another vehicle.
