BHATKAL : A woman from Shirali who had been admitted to the government hospital here has given birth to a mermaid like queer child which died within minutes after its birth, on Tuesday night.
The hospital’s gynecologist Dr Krishna G removed the child through a surgery after the mother failed to deliver despite developing labour pains for quite a long time.
The part of the body of the baby below the waste was completely joined and the part where the feet and fingers ought to be was tail shaped, The child also did not have its left ear. Though the child had normal weight at birth it died soon after. Doctors attending on the mother said she was recovering and that had the child not been removed through a surgery, then the mother’s life too would have been in danger.
This was the second delivery of the woman.
