MANGALORE: The six day long protest programme which the Jaago Mangalore Association had planned against the home stay attack, stands cancelled following the denial of permission by the police.

On Friday when the Association along with other organizations was all set to protest outside the DC office, it was prevented and Vijaynath Shetty, Chief of Jaago Mangalore Association, Ulepady Dinesh Hegde, advocate and others were arrested and later released.

Though Shetty had later said that the protest would be held on Friday, it was not to be, as the cops had once again refused to permit the protest.

“ The police department has refused permission for the protest on the grounds that there may be an attack by Bhajrangdal activists in the event of the protest continuing for six days,” advocate Dinesh Hegde Ulepady said. At the same time he has questioned as to why the police cannot arrest the Bhajrangdal men if it had prior information regarding their raid.
