BELTHANGADY : If several huge trees on either sides of the road at a place called Haleji on the Guruvayanakere-Uppinangady Highway, have been felled to facilitate widening of the roads, the locals are wondering where the felled trees vanish overnight.

Although almost the entire stretch of the Uppinangady-Guruvayanakere highway is motorable, there are a few stretches like the one from Kuppetti to Haleji which have not been widened . Recently, huge trees on either side of this road had been felled. But, locals are completely in the dark as to where the felled trees are taken and how they are disposed. They are also seeking an explanation from the authorities in this regard and are wondering if road widening was proposed just to fell trees.
