Four-laning project leaves Kumbhashi in mess

KUNDAPUR : The four-laning project has left the road at Kumbhashi in a miserable state, posing problems galore to the locals including the motorists and pedestrians.

If the works are in final phase in some places, in some other places they are half complete and suspended on the pretext of monsoons. If the works from Gopadi to Kumbhashi are complete, traffic is allowed only on one side of the road from the Kumbhashi bus stand. Although the locals preferred to use the old road itself, even that has been dug up till the Anegudda Mukha Mantap adding to the woes of the public mainly because several shops, business establishment and banks are located here.

The dug up portion of the road presently resembles a mini pond and the absence of street lights ever since the electric poles have been vacated, has led to several mishaps at this point. The stagnant water has also proved a breeding ground for mosquitoes bringing in fear of spread of malaria. To add to the problem, no sign board or warning board is kept here nor some protective fencing has been provided, residents of the locality complain.
