BANTWAL : The tragic death of former district youth Congress president Bondala Jagannath Shetty in a road accident late night on July31 near Panemangalore, has given room for much doubts. Presently, several have even expressed strong suspicion that this might be very well a case of systematic murder rather than an accident.

Here it is worth mentioning that the place where the mishap took place is not an accident zone and there is no chance for any driver to over speed here. The gas tanker which was involved in the collision with Bondala’s car has to control its speed near the toll gate and also near the Kallurti Gudi junction. Locals says there is also no chance of Bondala over speeding as he had to take a turn within 100 meters from where the accident took place, in order to reach his residence. The locals have also brought this matter to the notice of the SP.

This mishap has taken place just a day after Bondala had convened a press meet to strongly condemn the Mangalore home stay attack and therefore has given room for some suspicion in the minds of Congress leaders and workers.

As per the statement of Bondala ‘s car driver Krishnappa, a gas cylinder laden lorry stood in the way of the car near the Panemangalore toll gate. It is said, Bondala had tried to move ahead by avoiding the tanker. This too has given room for much doubt.

As per the local public, three gas cylinder laden lorries belonging to a particular company were parked near the toll gate simultaneously and the suspicion is if they were waiting for Bondala to arrive. Moreover, though both the vehicles involved in the collision had been thrown off the road due to the impact of the collision, the police who had arrived at the spot with a crane were in great hurry to remove the car from the spot of the accident. However, following opposition from the locals, the crane had left the place.

It is only a thorough police investigation that may reveal as to whether Bondala had died in an accident or if it was a well-planned case of murder.

Meanwhile, Ullal MLA UT Khader has demanded a thorough probe into the case owing to the doubts in the minds of the public regarding the accident.
