MOODBIDRI: A bridge at Kudrailu which links Daregudde via Anegudde in Moodukonaje village has developed cracks bringing in fears of its collapse in the near future.

This bridge was constructed about three decades ago and used to get submerged whenever it rained heavily. Ironically, the bridge has remained unrepaired since its construction. But, a number of vehicles have been using the road ever since it was asphalted. This, it is believed has increased the pressure on the bridge. Of late cracks have been noticed on the four supporting pillars of the bridge. Locals say the bridge may suffer more damage if heavy vehicles continue to ply on the route.

Meanwhile, the local gram panchayat member Sukesh Shetty said a Rs one crore proposal for a new bridge has been sent to the government by MLA Abhayachandra Jain and that the work would commence no sooner the project is approved.
