BYNDOOR : The window panes and doors of the Government First Grade College at Byndoor were damaged after students went on rampage on July 11, Wednesday, frustrated by the college decision to suspend a final year B.Com student on the charges of obstructing classes of a lecturer.

It has been reported that the final year B.Com students Pradeep Shetty, Nagaraj and Yogish Poojari who were misbehaving in the classes and troubling the lecturers since some time, were issued a warning by the principal on July 7 following which they had given a written undertaking that they would mend their ways. However, when one of them Pradeep Shetty continued his old practice on Tuesday, the lecturer Bhasker complained to the Principal and refused to conduct classes.

The matter was discussed with the collage management and the student Pradeep Shetty was suspended for ten days. However, when this news spread around in the college, the students boycotted the classes and forced the female students to come out. When the latter refused, the male students reportedly went on a rampage damaging the furnitures, windows and doors.

On realizing the gravity of the situation, the principal lodged a police complaint. The police who arrived at the college, had to resort to a mild lathi charge to bring the situation under control. A holiday was declared to the college later on.
