MANGALORE: Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt who participated in a debate on Mada Snana, the controversial ritual at Kukke Sri Subrahamanya Kshetra, has suggested that the practice can be continued by bringing about some minor changes.

The seer has suggested that instead of the roll over ritual offered over the left overs after Brahmins had food, the same can be done over leaves on which Naivedya is offered to the Lord and then given to the cattle.

Stating that there has been changes in several rituals in the modern times, the seer said similarly there is no harm in bringing some changes in Made Snana. At the same time it should not hurt religious sentiments, he added.

Though there is no connection between Made Snana and Malekudiyas, there is a misconception that only Malekudiyas offer this ritual, he observed.

However Malekudiyas present at the discussion were in favour of continuation of the ritual as, they said it was a question of their existence and identity.

Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat, RSS leader, MB Puranik, VHP leader and others took part in the discussions.
