UPPINANGADY : Residents of about six huts which had come up uanuthorisedly in a government owned Gomala land at a place called Mutta here, were evicted in a joint operation by the Puttur tahsildar and revenue officials recently.

A complaint which the authorities received in connection with the encroachment of Gomala land was taken note of seriously by the authorities who wasted no time in evicting the same. The officials who noted that several more houses have come up in government land and were even availing electricity and water connection, have directed dte house owners to furnish relevant documents or else vacate.

Most of the encroachers who were evicted were from other states and outside districts. There is a suspicion that they had encroached the land at the behest of some forces.
